My name is Teresa Oakley. I began teaching at Longview Elementary in 1984 as a Title I Reading Teacher. I worked with small groups of students and taught intensive phonic and phonemic awareness skills. These children are my passion. They have worked their way into my heart and I can not imagine working anywhere else. I do feel old though when children of former students or grandchildren of former students are now students at Longview! YIKES! I like going into the community and see former students working in different places. Longview students are the best! I am now the Literacy Coach. In this position I am able to go into every classroom and work with every classroom teacher. I get to see ALL of the students in the school. While I miss teaching the students directly, I do get to see them in every room and I am still able to get my hugs. My husband and I have been married for many years. We have two grown children - Lauren and Adam. We have added a new daughter to our family - Kerri. Adam and Kerri were married in the summer of 2011. Lauren and Gary work in our community. Adam is serving in the Army. He has been deployed to Afghanistan. While we are scared of what may happen, we are proud that he is serving our Country. We are blessed to have wonderful family and live and work in this community.
